Properties of Fе-Mn-C-Al Steel, Alloyed with Cr, Si and Cu, After Electroslag Remelting

Abstract
The microstructure and microhardness of Fe-Mn-Al-C steel alloyed with Cr, Si, and Cu were investigated. The alloy was produced through induction melting followed by electroslag remelting. The microstructure of steel was studied using optical and scanning electron microscopy methods. The phase composition of the metal was investigated. The chosen alloying system was found to positively affect the steel’s mechanical properties; the average microhardness value is 4.66 GPa, exceeding the literature value for steel with the base composition.
