Corrosion Protection of Materials
Modification of Black Chromium Coatings for Improved Corrosion Protection
Keywords
black chromium, electrodeposition, composite coatings
Abstract
Black chromium coatings were electrodeposited onto AISI 304 stainless steel using electrolytes with varying concentrations of Al(NO3)3. SEM, EDX, EIS, and LVA revealed that the additive improves coating morphology, enhances corrosion resistance, and may lead to bilayer formation. The most favourable results were obtained at 0.05 mol/L Al(NO3)3.
