Abstract
The effect of V-notch orientation on the operational change in impact toughness of pipeline steel was evaluated. Higher impact toughness was observed in specimens with notches oriented in the radial direction. The greatest sensitivity of the impact toughness to operational degradation was recorded in transverse specimens with notches oriented axially.
