Abstract

We develop a mathematical model for healing a disc-shaped crack in a transversely isotropic elastoplastic cylindrical body under torsion. The boundary-value problem is reduced to an integral equation for the angular displacement on the crack faces. For the case of a fully filled crack, a closed-form analytical solution is obtained. The strengthening effect is quantified in terms of the crack geometry and the mechanical properties of the cured injection material.
